I don't know how many pumpkin patches there are in Iowa, but you can add one more to that list! The Weis Family pumpkin patch that started from one little seed produced nine good sized healthy (and orange!) pumpkins! We did have our doubts that anything could ever be produced in our garden...I guess the lesson is to just let things go naturally. ;-) We didn't do a thing with this mess of pumpkin vines and weren't even sure what it was at first!
Megan and Lucy happily traipsed pumpkins over to our neighbors as a peace offering (the vine had become a bit unruly and spread). They wanted to share them with everyone and I was very pleased with their generosity! We did keep a couple pumpkins and proudly displayed them on our front steps...before they soon become jack o lanterns!
